4X Los Angeles has a few different types of events:
Special Events, One-time trainings or seminars with speakers from around the world who visit our group to deliver expert information in the areas of trading, strategies, and tactics for success in the 4X market. These events can either be live or via our online conferencing software.
Live Meetings, usually held once a month on a Sunday evening beginning at 5:30pm. We say "usually" because sometimes it's a couple times a month. Be sure to check the Online Calendar.
Tuesday online webinar sessions, Tuesday evenings starting at 8pm but held only via interactive online web-conferencing, (you must be a paid 4XLA subscriber) and only when we can fill the spot, so check the Online Calendar frequently
All of our sessions are always available via a live online webinar subscription. If you can't make it to the meetings or a special event in person, you can always attend online via our webinar room, a real-time desktop solution for interactive conferencing, collaboration, and content delivery. Visit our Webinar page to learn more about our online webinar delivery.

Live Meetings
Every month we meet in at Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, CA, about 26 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
These meetings are a great way to meet popular Forex speakers, traders , trainers, and suppliers, not to
mention a great way to network with other local traders. The cost of the evening is minimal, just to cover
the rent of the room so come and meet and immerse yourself with a great bunch of people. All meetings
are held in the Gabrielino Room in the Titan Student Union beginning at 5:30pm Pacific Time.
We're working diligently on securing speakers for 2011 and as soon as we know who/when, we'll add it to the list below. We do have the room reserved monthly through 2011 so meetings will happen no matter what. Keep checking back regularly....this page is updated as speakers are set.
Sunday, January 15th, 2012, 5:30 pm
We hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season. Our live meetings start again this Sunday at Cal State Fullerton’s Student Union in the Gabrielino Room at 5:30 pm. The 4XLA officers got together before the holidays to decide what to present in the coming new year. The conclusion: why we are still promoting speakers who are selling “stuff” and asking for our money when we have viable systems to trade on just about any time frame. Therefore, we are not going to have any outside speakers for the next three meetings, we will instead concentrate on Dick’s 5 or 15 minute trading system, the LA Baseball strategy for 30 min or 1 hour timeframes, and Tom’s Zone strategy which works on the 4 hour and Daily charts. This means that scalping, intraday, swing, and position style trading will all be covered (eventually, if not at every meeting).
Our goal during these meetings is to use the strategy tester that is built into Metatrader and show how the trades looked before we took them, why we took them, where our stop should be and what our target is. We hope that by showing these examples, our members can build their strategy and be trading live money by July of this year (no promises, though, because your mileage may vary). During these meetings you will be able to ask us to look at specific pairs and why we would or would not take a trade, where our stops are and where our targets are. These answers should help you build your rules for trading and help you get into the market live. Even if it’s just a micro account, we still hope to have everyone there by July.
Bring your computer to the meeting and we can help get you up to speed by helping you to install these indicators and/or templates. We will also be able to give you the same systems at the meeting via flash drive if you can't bring your computer. So, bring a flash drive and we'll be happy to load them up.
This is to be an interactive meeting so what we need from you is examples. Give us a trade you wanted to take (or did take) and we will dissect how we might have traded it with our systems. If you have a favorite pair, we can also look at it and discuss how we might have analyzed/traded it also.
Our next two meetings are February 19 and March 25 so you can add them to your calendar. Looking forward to seeing you there!
If you're in the southern California area, join us on the Cal State Fullerton campus (MAP) in person ($10 at the door). If you can't attend in-person, you can always attend remotely via our Online Webinar room, (just $10 for a one-time online room pass or a $19.95/mo monthly subscription to get all the meetings during the month). All meetings begin sharply at 5:30pm Pacific Time -- be sure to show up early to connect with your 4X trading buddies!

These are just a few of the guest speakers who've presented at our meetings in past months..
Sunday, December 4th, 2011, 5:30 pm
December's meeting was a special gift to our members: we held a "4XLA EXPO" with talks by several speakers, very much like a Vegas-style expo with various speaker tables stationed around the room. Our very own Dick Schmidt, Tom Rogers, Fred McIntosh, Brandon d'Rion and Robert Hill (indicator developer) all had stations in the room where they demonstrated their systems so our members could walk around and ask questions. Each presenter showed how they use their system and also provided their templates and indicators for free. For those who could not attend in person, we took our online viewers to each station so they could ask questions and interact with the presenters at their stations.
Sunday, November 13th, 2011, 5:30 pm
For the part of the meeting we heard Jeffrey Baskin from ForexFolio (www.forexfolio.com) as our main speaker. This is the company that Rick Lamborn has been in talks with to get US institutional spreads without having to have institutional accounts. This is also the company that Robert Hill has been working with to market some of his EA’s. Our second speaker was Fred MacIntosh who presented his unique trading method.
So it was something for everyone - scalping, intraday, swing, and position trading styles.
Sunday, October 16th, 2011, 5:30 pm
This month's meeting was All In-House, All Our Tading Systems, All Evening. We had a new template, which we call the "Tom Zone", that can be used on the Daily and 4 hour charts. This system has been used by 4XLA's Tom Rogers for the last 4 months using real money and he hasn’t had a losing trade (although he did experience a drawdown of over 300 pips). We also discussed our LA Baseball Second Inning template which can be used on either the one hour or 30 minute charts and finished up with Dick’s short term ACD trades, which works not only for trades winning trades but also corrects losing trades to boot.
So it was something for everyone - scalping, intraday, swing, and position trading styles.
Sunday, September 18th, 2011, 5:30 pm
Avery Horton (aka TRO, The Rumpled One) addressed us on the subject of the way to stop losing and start winning in trading. Mr. Horton is the one who modified the 3 level_zz_semafor indicator that Tom, Dick, and Larry (and most 4XLA members use) on every chart in every time frame.
Sunday, August 14th, 2011, 5:30 pm
Once again we stayed in-house. Dick and Larry talked about our different systems and showed some tips on using MT4's built-in indicator editor, MetaEditor.
Sunday, July 17th, 2011, 5:30 pm
Dick and Larry spoke to us about our very own 4XLA Baseball strategy and Dick’s very active trading strategy. He also shared with us some documentation on what each indicator does.
Brandon also finished his presentation on speeding up your computer so it will not only work faster but also be more efficient.
At this meeting, we also takled about doing a few new things...
looking for people who want (or need) a trading partner so we can pair people together
looking for a person to design a new 4x Los Angeles logo for shirts and the website
looking for people interested in going to Las Vegas for the Forex Expo Sept. 22-24 to see if we can get a group rate at Caesars Palace
We also talked about adding a new section to our live monthly meetings, which we'll call "Trade of the Month". To be eligible for this honor, you must send in a screen shot of your before and after trade and must be willing to share your system with our group (which means it can not be proprietary). You will need to present your trade at our llive meeting (and will be doing that from Larry's computer) with a time limit of 5 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions. If enough people seem interested, we can have you give a longer presentation at a future meeting and for that you will also receive a 2 month free pass to all our webinars. All entries must be willing to share their indicators and have them available so our members can try them if they choose to.
Sunday, June 19, 2011, 5:30 pm
For this Sunday's meeting, we presented our own 4XLA Baseball strategy.
Sunday, May 22, 2011, 5:30 pm
For this Sunday's meeting, we had two speakers:
Speaker #1: Gene Miller, spoke to us on how to get trade directional bias using the weekly charts and then how to drill down the charts (daily, H4, H1 or 15m charts) to find the best ones to trade for the night.
Speaker #2: Brandon D’Rion, one of our local computer gurus, spoke to us on computers and MetaTrader.
Topics were:
Gene's Agenda
Explained their custom indicators
Weekly Chart analysis (looking for trend and momentum)
Drilling down the charts for possible entries
Expert Advisors and how we can use EA's
Explain how the "WOW H1 Groups" works
Brandon's Agenda: He'll showed us different ways to not only speed up MetaTrader but also how to speed up our computers. Brandon has been working for 15 years on computers. He also let us know which virus protection we should use and which programs we can do without to speed up our platforms.

Once again, Robert Hill was in the house speaking to us about his new indicator developments.
Robert presented different indicators and showed us how he uses them to help his success as a trader. As mentioned, he showed and gave us some of the indicators that he uses and has created over the years, some of which will now be for available for sale.

Trading Technology. Edward specializes in coaching and training investors how to work with the GnosTICK trading indicators. Edward is a Series-3 licensed broker registered with the National Futures Association. Speaker 3: Robert Hill, our very own, in-house, highly-respected, Southern-California-based-genius-MT4 programmer (one of the TOP 5 IN THE WORLD!) spoke to us about a new indicator he's exploring.
Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, 5:30 pm
Mr. Vernon Baptiste, a CPA, was our main speaker for the eveniing. We know, a CPA for a speaker sounds boring but we need to treat trading like a business and that means forming a corporation and taking care of taxes so we can keep our profits, and who better to tell us how to do that than a CPA.
Mr. Baptiste has been a licensed CPA since 1981 and is a member of both the California Society of CPA and the American Instituted of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Baptiste has a Master’s Degree from USC and has owned his own Accounting business since 1986. Mr. Baptiste's work history includes such companies as Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young. Mr. Baptiste also volunteers with the Rotary club and is a licensed Real Estate Broker.
For the second part of the meeting, Larry and Dick went over charts and took questions on our baseball system and our AAA system.

Dick Schmidt, 4XLA's Vice President, hosted the meeting too and also shared his 5-minute trading style and two new indicators.
The 1st new indicator is from our own Tom Rogers and it tells you not only when to get into a trade but also when to add positions ... it does remarkably well. It has worked on the 5min, 15min, and 1 hour charts and Tom has never has a losing trade with it, the only problem is that we can not back test this indicator (sorry Deb). Dick has jumped on the bandwagon and is also playing with it now.
The 2nd new indicator puts mini charts on your main chart so there is no longer a need to change time frames, you can even put other pairs on different charts and this indicator comes from our long time member Qamar (Thanks!!). You can add up to 3 charts with either different time frames or different pairs on every chart. There are many inputs include fonts, sizes and colors of text or bars. Now you can see if complementary pairs are moving together or separate without changing charts. If your platform has gold, you can even add that chart to your Aussie pairs.

Here are some topics that he covered during the presentation:
Educational and cover strategies, example trades and analysis of the live market.
The last 30 minutes was used to present information about YTR's proprietary trading program which allows traders to trade company capital. Ryan Wood, YTR's Marketing Manager, presented this portion.
YTR also raffled off door prizes at the meeting. You can click
here to download a detailed copy of the presentation agenda that contains a special YTR Promo Code

5:30 pm: At our meeting this Sunday, Steve Mauro of 'Market Makers Method' was our main speaker. He joined us live in the meeting room at Cal State Fullerton. Steve Mauro has earned millions trading the FOREX market using what he calls his "Market Makers’ Method". Steve now breaks his silence on the biggest secret in FOREX trading. He will give you a preview of how to trade exactly the way he does and how to make weekly returns on your money that are unrivaled in any financial market. Steve has years of brokerage reports to prove it and he will share them along with the following:
What Market Makers do to profit in the FOREX market.
How to use this knowledge to immediately join the 5% of traders who profit in this market.
How to identify the biggest daily moves to trade.
How to make more in one day than most good traders make in a month using short-term techniques,/LI>
You only need a small account to make big returns.
Lorn Walberg, who's has been a practicing
attorney since 2002, spoke to us about asset protection, tax reduction and business
and estate planning. His experience is particularly focused on investors and small business
owners.
Mr. Walberg has personally structured the business and estate plans of hundreds
of successful investors and business owners and taught hundreds of seminars to thousands of
students across the country, educating investors and business owners in the power of planning
for today and tomorrow.

numerous financial conventions, has been featured in interviews on CNBC and BRAVO, and
has been interviewed on countless financial radio programs.

Tim Chandler of 'Candles Don't Lie' method was our main speaker. He joined us live in the meeting room at Cal State Fullerton. Tim Chandler has followed a path familiar to most forex traders. A path of robots, ebooks and programs where every method he was sold on had shown initial success, but was always followed by method failure. Tim was just another “gonna be” trader who bought numerous systems and spent lots of time in trading rooms, and lost more money than he cares to mention. It was frustrating for him to discover that most of his teachers were unsuccessful traders to which he began spending much of his time (1000’s of hours by now) in front of his charts studying candle price action. What he figured out, he sums up in three simple words “Candles Don’t Lie.” Tim states that if you learn to read candles they always tell you where to get in and where to get out. Tim's time-tested method bears some intriguing characteristics:
Effective on most any currency pair
The simplest trading method he has ever used
Uses absolutely no indicators
Is traded using free charts
A 1-to-1 risk to reward ratio (20 pip stop with average 20 pip limit)
Occurs several times a session (it can be traded every market day)
Exceptionally high success rate
Once Tim realized he had developed that “one” trade style (one effective style is all that is required), he began sharing it with all the traders he knew and Tim now heads an active market session trading room followed by a review of the day's trades each morning. Tim will be offering free access to allow our group members to view his trading method in action with typical performance results.
Learning a method of pinpointing trade entries and exits without the need or use of chart indicators is a valuable skill for any trader, period.

They now have an MT4 to offer clients for both Demo and live trading.
They have a education system called MB university that they offer their live clients.
No dealing desk for direct ECN access
Low commission rate to give the best spreads with the EUR/USD leading the group with spreads usually less than a pip
Six different platform to trade the forex on, including web based and mobile
Free weekly webinars for their clients with a research center available to them

Mindy Rosenblatt and Evelyn Jacob shared with us a set of tools they've created to help traders gain mastery of Money Management: The Forex Trade Calculator and Forex Trade Log. These are NOT your grandmother's forex calculator and trade log. These tools were designed to be intuitive, easy to use, precise, powerful, and are highly customizable to fit a wide variety of trading styles. Mindy and Evelyn will demonstrate these tools and share videos they've created to help you analyze your own trading, find ways to increase your profit, and help reduce your losses without changing your current strategies.
They showed us Adaptive Positioning, one of the simplest and most under-utilized ways almost every trader can rapidly and easily increase their profit many-fold, without changing their trading style at all. In addition, they took us through the many features of the calculator and trade log: figuring lot size based on account equity, adding in bid and ask automatically, showing you progression options if you use advanced loss-recovery strategies, keeping the ultimate record of all of your trades, and seeing what your annual return can be based on your trading record and lots more.
You can catch a tour of the Forex Trade Calculator and the Forex Trade Log at www.forexSmartTools.com.

Deb Donohoe. our 4XLA webmaster & sales rep for Hawkeye Traders, showed us something that she believes is THE most innovative indicator she's ever seen: Hawkeye Traders' "FATMAN". It's a strength meter. Now before you run screaming from your computer shrieking "NOT ANOTHER STRENGTH METER!!", ask yourself these simple questions: will your current strength meter help you work through your strategies as you look BACKWARD through your charts? Do any of the other strength meters you've seen along the way indicate a TREND for strength or weakness? If no, then
click here to see a powerpoint presentation at the Hawkeye website.
We also had David Karp who introduced us to Currensee, the first social network of forex traders. With Currensee, traders can collaborate using live trade data and can share trades and positions with their trading friends in real-time. Currensee is the way to trade together. Their mission is to bring trust and transparency to the Forex market by connecting real traders with real trades in real time. Like-minded traders can connect with each other and share unique ideas, insights and data based on the actual trading activity of the community.

Dick Schmidt talked about two scalping techniques - using our own 4XLA-developed MRN Trading Methodology - that have proved to be very fruitful. He walked us through two trading setups he's devised, giving back freely TO our group that which he received FROM our group. Dick is SUCCESSFULLY trading on a daily basis using the strategies he showed us this month. Dick has made his living with investments since about 1985, most of the time spent in pari-mutuel investing. He started trading commodities about five years ago and progressed to the S&P e-mini and then on to FOREX. Though, like all of us, he struggled at first, since finding MRN he has become a successful trader.
Sunday, December 13, 2009
Larry Velardi prepared a slideshow which visually demonstrated 'the Power of Leveraging'.
Arnie Placencio, one of our own, presented a brief intro into his Stoch Scalping technique.
Sunday, November 15, 2009
Melissa Slade, of the NFA spoke to us via Hotcomm touching upon a couple of topics during her presentation. Specifically, she addressed the different kinds of tools that are available to traders to conduct their own "due diligence" research on any individuals/entities with whom they would like to conduct business. In addition, as most traders are aware, the CFTC is developing their regulations relating to Forex. She discussed questions they've received that surround the different registration categories (CTA/CPO/IB) including who is required to register in what capacity and the regulatory requirements that go along with these registration types. And, of course, she also answeres our questions about the NFA
.
Our own Tom Rogers, showed us how to usr our MT4 platforms as a timing mechanism to enter and exit the stock market. Even though we're a Forex group, it's important to have different financial options, espcially in today's market climate. Tom showed us how he uses a stock program in conjunction with his MT4 platform to time enttries for trading stocks.
Sunday, October 11, 2009
Robert Hill, (aka Mr. Pips) took us to the next level using Meta Trader's built-in Strategy Tester. He showed us how to use this testing and evaluation tool to optimize our indicators. What do we mean by optimize? Almost every indicator has multiple inputs you can plug in and use. He'll show us how to vary these inputs to get the best values to use with our indicators. Robert is the author of thousands of indicators and his knowledge of the MT4 platform is priceless. When Tom and Larry got to spend time with Robert at the Las Vegas show, there wasn't a single booth they visited that didn't know (and want to hire) Robert.
.
Sunday, August 16, 2009
For this Sunday's meeting, we had two speakers.
First was the "Larry and Tom Show", presented by Larry Velardi, Vice President of 4XLA and Tom Rogers, Co-Developers of the MRN system. Larry and Tom will presented their updates to the system. They've sought out the expertise of Robert Hill (one of the most sought-after MT4 programmers in the world) to refine some of the MT4 indicators of which MRN is comprised. The MRN System highlights strong and reliable setup conditions for trade entries and exits and has received very little modification since its launch over 12 months ago. It's time-tested and it's that good. And what's the pricetag? It's available free to anyone who requests it. With the MRN System, there's no need to stare at your monitor all day - just walk up when it alerts you to potential trade considerations via sound, popup, and/or cellular texting. The alerts are simultaneous with the up and down arrows on the chart. View the Aug. 12 to 14th MRN 1-hour timeframe GBP/JPY 511 pips chart by clicking here.
Our second presenter was Deb Donohoe, our webmaster (aka WebBabe), who presented a short 30 minute (approx.) follow-up of her more advanced usage of the MT4 Strategy Tester. She shared with us her most recent techniques on ramping up your Forex insight. Deb says her approach gives INSTANT feedback on why you have been missing trades.
.
Sunday, July 19, 2009
Larry Velardi and Tom Rogers once again showed us their MRN system (a suite of MT4 indicators they've combined which give very strong and reliable setups for trade entries and exits). This time, they also helped us put together a trading plan with all the parameters a trader should think through and checkoff prior to taking a trade. They shared spreadsheets, logs, and other planning items and made those availalbe to everyone in attendance, both live and via hotComm. Check the Meeting Archives page for the handouts .

Deb Donohoe, our webmaster (aka WebBabe), showed us how we SHOULD have learned to trade the forex market: by using the Strategy Tester built-in to MetaTrader. She just discovered this resource a few months ago and is only just now realizing the impact it could have made on her trading. Why "could have"? Her words: "All these years, the industry betrayed me by telling me to open demo accounts and demo trade while you learn. WRONG. In order to learn, one has to KNOW what works. Waiting for demo trades to cook, hour after hour, day after month after year is not only the slowest way to see what works, it's also the worst way". Attend this session live or via hotcomm and let Deb show you the BEST way - the way you SHOULD have been using all along - to learn how to trade the 4X market on your own terms. She also had a special package containing an EA+scripts that will let you actually trade inside the simulator - no better way to learn to trade. Please visit the Meeting Archives page for the handouts.

Sunday, May 3, 2009
Due to end-of-year events at Cal State Fullerton, preferred dates for our normal mid-month meeting were unavailable. As a result, we had no guest speaker scheduled.
For this Sunday's meeting, Larry Velardi and Tom Rogers showed us their MT4 MRN setup. MRN is a suite of indicators they've combined which they believe give very strong and reliable setups for trade entrys and exits. We had a full evening's discussion of how this suite is used the boys even gave us a heads up about possible setups for the night and the coming week.
.
Sunday, April 19, 2009
Guest speaker: Jordan Roman, Forex Instructor from http://www.fishingforpips.com, showed us how to maximize our trades using price pivots applied to the MRN chart setup. Jordan is the main FOREX instructor for numerous education companies across the country and helps manage high net worth individuals' currency accounts. Fishing For Pips was created in association with Larry Velardi to support, educate and empower forex traders with the skills necessary to achieve both immediate and longterm goals.
Trader Spotlight: Robert Hill, MT4 Programmer, discussed MetaTrader 4 methods that generate trading signals. Examples include the most recent which he works with manually, and has returned over 6000 pips so far this year on the GBPUSD with very little drawdown. Another is an EA for the method that currently shows over 3000 pips profit on the GBPUSD, trading 1 mini per trade generating a return of over $30K. Robert will also be sharing a free Expert Advisor that trades the GBPUSD daily and has had only 2 losing years since 2001. Robert Hill is reknowned in the MT4 community for his helpfulness and guidance in the effective usage and optimization of MT4 indicators and expert advisors..
